We have entered the year 2020 but it is a matter of regret that in today’s modern and scientific era, there are many such objectionable issues that still exist in society. Even in this era of education and technology, atrocities against women are not being named. Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, who raised the issue of Hindu-Muslim unity from his films Mulk , casteism from Article 15 . And now Anubhav Sinha has brought a slap, which shows the issue of domestic violence on women. Taapsee Pannu plays the lead role in the movie Thappad, which is released in theaters this week. Will the slap Anubhav Sinha succeed in shaking the audience like the previous two films or will it fail in its effort? Let’s review.
On the streets of Delhi, the film slaps with women who live in different environments and eat mango ice cream. A collage is to connect the stories of six different women with the help of this ice cream. The collage of Anubhav Sinha’s film Making has also been similar to an ice cream candy. Films like Kaun Tum Bin, Tum Bin 2, Dus, Yashtu, Cash and Ra One and films like Where Mulk, Article 15 and Slap. The real film director within Anurag has awakened only after he turns 50. In the last two years, he has made three films that will be mentioned for generations in the history of Hindi cinema.
Slap is a film watched with patience. There is an amrita who takes care of her husband like a mother. One is her husband Vikram, who is drunk from work day and night. The film comes down to its point by recounting how the politics of the office ruins homes, from which it is named. The film is more about domestic male violence than domestic violence, which is rarely discussed. Amrita kills her husband only because she interrupts him. Amrita’s mother gave her singing to sing because the mother explained that the house is important. Amrita’s mother-in-law is separated from her husband for her son. Taapsee’s lawyer suffocates in her husband’s fame, she shares her grief with a chef.
Initially, the film runs at a very slow pace. In the dark of the theater Khusar keeps saying that the reason Vikram slaps his wife Amrita is not the violence that a wife leaves at home. And that too three to four days later. But, the point here is not to slap. The issue is why slapped? Experiences highlight this from different perspectives through different characters. Legal stalkers also make sharp comments about the family fabric. The film builds its grip slowly and then reaches its peak in Amrita’s baby shower scene. This scene has the potential to make a movie ticket worth the money. This film is a must watch for every mother, every daughter and every wife and that too with her son, her father or her husband.
With the increasing age of Anurag, the sanity within him is showing in his cinema. Shah Rukh has finalized his name for Ra One, something that he once came to know on Hotmail chat during the shooting of Dus. However, since then the outlook of the experience has revolved around 180 degrees about cinema. It is good to introspect. And, it is good for cinema that the director who ever made a music video understands what he is making for cinema? The rebel country inside Anurag, article 15 and now has come out through the camera in the slap. First religion, then society and now family. This is a unique cinematography of cinema.
This is different from what Taapsee Pannu did in South Indian cinema. In Hindi cinema, she has gradually made her own place where she has no competition with anyone, the search for the film is Pavail Gulati. This is not the first film of Anurag Kashyap, who started his career with the TV series Yudh, but if he were the first film, he would not be surprised to get all the Best Debut Awards next year. Apart from Kumud Mishra, Ratna Pathak, Geetika Vaidya, Maya Sarao has performed well. He has done a wonderful job in fulfilling how a lawyer fighting in court for others suffocates at home.
In article 15, the work done by its author Gaurav Solanki has done the same work for the slap. Such a tide of sensations is rarely seen in Hindi cinema. Writing is the most difficult job of cinema. This new plant of writers is preparing new cinema. The film is very good, the only problem is that this year the audience did not even go to the cinema hall to see good movies like Chhapak and Panga. The real fight is just this thought of slap, which is again becoming a hindrance in the box office success of good cinema.
Overall, Tapsee Slap, adorned by Pannu’s superb performance, makes a strong commentary on the violence and patriarchy against women. At the box office, the film will be well-liked by its target audience, especially by women.
